What is AvantGo Travel Guide?

AvantGo Travel Guide is an integrated feature of the AvantGo service that makes travel life easier. Get your personal travel itineraries from the top brands in travel, search for directions and maps, view weather forecasts and city guide information and convert foreign currencies. All for free!

Why should I use AvantGo Travel Guide?

Are you often carrying around a stack of papers related to your flight, hotel and car rental that end up being tattered or lost by the end of your trip? Your travel itinerary information is now just one tap away from the AvantGo homepage. Simply synchronize your device to get the latest status for your flight, plus the latest weather, restaurant information and more for your destination! Once synchronized, the information in AvantGo Travel Guide is always available - even on an airplane! If your device has a wireless connection you can synchronize updates on the go.

Getting Started

Where do I find AvantGo Travel Guide?

To receive AvantGo Travel Guide, you must have a free AvantGo account (subscribe now), and AvantGo software version 5.7 or greater. If you are using 5.7 or greater, AvantGo Travel Guide is located under the tab with airplane icon on the AvantGo homepage of your device.

If you are using AvantGo 5.7 and you do not see the tab with the airplane icon, go to the "AvantGo Account Settings" tab (wrench icon) on your device and select "AvantGo Feature Settings". Enable AvantGo Travel from the AvantGo Feature Settings page and synchronize your device.

* If you are using AvantGo version 5.6 or below you can subscribe to the AvantGo Travel Channel, which includes a limited set of the Travel Guide functionality.

Features

Travel Itineraries

Get your personal travel itinerary updates from the best brands in travel - including Expedia Corporate, Northwest Airlines, Travelocity Business, United Airlines and Virtually There. Itinerary information includes, flight confirmation numbers, flight numbers, flight/gate status and flight times. Where applicable, you'll also find hotel and car rental information from your itinerary.

Weather

The latest two-day and five-day forecasts for a primary and secondary location are always just two taps away from the AvantGo homepage with AvantGo Travel Guide. You can easily set your active itinerary destination to be the secondary weather location you see when viewing weather information.

City Guides

Get comprehensive city guide information for 199 metropolitan areas worldwide. You'll find detailed information, including addresses, phone numbers, reviews, pricing and more, for accommodations; bars, cafes and nightlife; business essentials; dining; practical information; shopping; and city activities.

Maps and Directions

Need driving directions to your meeting or a map of the vicinity for your conference? With AvantGo Travel Guide, you can easily generate driving directions and maps, and store them for convenient access on your device. Plus, addresses appearing in the city guide feature or your itinerary include links that enable you to easily request directions or maps to/from the location without manually entering the address text on your handheld.

Currency Conversion

Easily convert 33 world currencies right on your device. Simply select a starting currency and value, then a currency to convert to, and AvantGo will do the math from the latest currency values, which are delivered to your device when you sync AvantGo with the Travel Guide feature enabled.

What travel providers are supported?
Expedia Corporate, Northwest Airlines, Travelocity Business, United Airlines and Virtually There are currently supported. If you're not a customer of one of these providers, you may still find AvantGo Travel Guide a useful, convenient tool for weather, city guides, maps and directions and currency conversion. Travel provider settings are optional.

What devices are supported?
Palm OS 5, Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Symbian OS UIQ, Symbian OS v6.1 Series 60 and RIM BlackBerry.

* Note for BlackBerry users: AvantGo for BlackBerry is available as a wireless-only service and requires BlackBerry browser version 3.7 or greater. Synchronization, currency conversion transactions without a connection, and always-available features do not apply for BlackBerry.
